The Oakland Raiders won their first division championship in 1967 when they lost to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl II. The Raiders, in 1967, did win the AFL Championship in route to the Super Bowl in a blowout over the Houston Oilers, which marked the first of four consecutive AFL/AFC Championship appearances, losing three and winning one.

Following a two-year layoff in 1971 and 1972, the Raiders again played in five more consecutive AFC Championship Games between 1973 and 1977, winning the game in 1976, where they also won their first Super Bowl over the Minnesota Vikings.

Following their success in the 1970s, the Raiders went on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in 1980 and the Washington Redskins in 1983 to win their second and third Super Bowls, the latter as the Los Angeles Raiders.

The Raiders made one more AFC Championship appearance during their time in Los Angeles in a 51-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

In 2000 and 2002, the Raiders lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship and defeated the Tennessee Titans, in route to yet another Super Bowl, this one a 48-21 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

From 1967 to 2002, the Raiders played in 14 AFL/AFC Championship Games, making five Super Bowls and winning three in the process. They also won 16 AFL/AFC West Championships in the same timespan, making the Raiders one of the most consistently successful teams in NFL history to that point.

However, since the 2003 season, the Raiders have hit rock bottom in many categories, including a playoff drought of thirteen consecutive seasons, finally breaking through after securing a 12-4 record in 2016 in a Wildcard Playoff loss to the Houston Texans.

Since 2016, the team has fallen to a combined 10-22 record in 2017 and 2018.

The Raiders have not won a playoff game, seen a division title, and has only seen one winning season since their Super Bowl XXXVII appearance.
